We welcome new singers in all voice parts, particularly tenors and basses at present.

We have some excellent singers in these parts and together they make up about a third of the choir so you'll be in good company. With professional orchestras and soloists, we undertake a broad repertoire from Renaissance and Baroque works to contemporary pieces – mostly drawn from the large choral and orchestral repertoire but with occasional smaller works and a capella singing.

We are fortunate to have as our 'home' venue the amazing new Saffron Hall, where we give three main concerts each year. The adrenaline rush from performing in front of a large audience in the wonderful acoustic of this splendid auditorium just has to be experienced. Our Christmas performances with local schools take place in St Mary's, the town's beautiful parish church.

Our rehearsals are normally held on Mondays, and occasionally on Thursdays, 7.30-9.45pm, at Saffron Walden County High School from September to June.

A full rehearsal schedule is available here.

Rehearsals are often demanding and we work hard, but it's also great fun and very satisfying. The coffee break is a good time to get to know other singers and catch up on choir news.

If you'd like to become part of our dynamic and friendly group, then give us a try. We invite you to join us at three or four rehearsals before having a short, singer-friendly voice test with our musical director, JanetWheeler.

If you would like to try us out, please contact our Membership Secretary at membership@swchoral.org.uk in the first instance.

We look forward to giving you a big welcome.
